From what I've experienced, the most influential people in my life are the ones whom I have been in direct relationship with. Because of this, it seems like the most effective way to spur on the greatest spiritual growth is to be in relationship with others who trust Christ. With that being said, I have found that for me, relational ministry has produced significantly more spiritual transformation in my life, and in the lives of those around me than any big program or altar call ever could. This doesn't mean that we neglect programs- they're are a great tool to put us in relationship with one another, so let's put the best program together that we can!
In light of this, the substance of the relationship has to be rooted in something deeper and more life changing than a mutual love for camping, the Anaheim Ducks, your favorite book, a good cup of coffee, or even similar passions and life choices. At the root of these relationships must be an eagerness to experience the Creator in a more awe-inspiring way each day. To have the greatest life change, we must be moved each day to think deeper about the incomprehensibility of God's greatness. |
